these two words help us to remember to set our clocks forward one hour in the spring. i am believing that these two words are going to be catalysts for me. i am ready to “spring forward” in my life. i am ready for some really amazing things to start happening. i have been in a fog for the past few months and i am ready to move ahead.

spring is a time for new birth, fresh starts, and just general newness. i hope and pray that for all of you and myself that this is true in our lives over the next few months. anyway i know that the best is yet to come…

awardoscar.jpg

last night i was driving home from surprising my mom for her birthday. so, i missed most of the oscars. i did get home in time to see the last few awards, which is the best part anyway. i did get to see the opening and i will give hugh a C. there really is none better than billy crystal for a host. i must admit that ellen did a good job. someday, i know that i will be a red carpet interviewer, if not the host. that would be the biggest thrill in the world.

so, based on the awards last night, i guess i am going to have to go and see slumdog millionaire. it took home 8 awards last night. and i think that the award for supporting actor was no surprise, heath ledger… amazing. can i just say that i love the movies and everything that goes along with it. i do have one hate for the night. i hate when celebrities, in general, use an awards show as a platform to push their political views (sean penn). there is no call for that. just take your award and sit down.

anyway… be on the lookout because one day, i will host that show!!!! the best is yet to come…

dipastena.jpg

this past sunday trinity chapel took in a new family. andrew, marbi, and alyssa dipastena. these guys are coming to us from charlotte, nc. they have been in ministry for many years. we are really excited to have them at trinity as our new student pastors. i know that God is going to do some amazing things through this family here at pure power. both pastor andrew and marbi are graduates of lee university (ok so it was college when they graduated!). they have worked in tennessee, florida, and north carolina. it is going to be great to serve with this family. if you can make it, come and be a part of their first service, wednesday night at 7:00 pm in the youth room.

  4. one time after putting the poker in the fire, i told my sister it wasnt hot and made her touch it.

  10. some of the best memories of my life come from being on the bus with all my VOL family. i can still see the duck-taped windows and the girls putting the cold cans under their arms and on their necks to keep cool when the generator went out!
  11. i have had my heart broken only once. i hope that is not making me gun shy about putting a lot of emotion into a relationship.
  12. someday i will own a porsche and an airplane
  13. there is not many days that go by that i dont think about some lesson that i learned from danny murray while in voices.

  18. i am extremely critical of people. it is true that i could find something wrong with just about everyone.
  19. i have an amazing ability to sing a song about anything. for instance, if someone said, “let’s go.” i would sing “go go… we’re goin ridin on the freeway…”
  20. i am pretty much the best prank caller that i know!
  21. the only regret that i have, and i am still not sure that i regret it, is that i didnt do the study abroad program to cambridge while i was at lee. i had the option of going on the trip or coming to work at trinity. i think i made the right decision
  22. instead of saying hello, or hi, or hey, i say, “hey now,” a phrase that got from one stanley lester
  23. i eat out for almost every meal
  24. i often miss the college days. i would love to go back and do it all over again. it was so much fun

this sunday, we combines both services at church. we had the biggest crowd that we have ever had. it was really an incredible experience. the room was charged with energy. it was loud and it was exciting to be in a room with that many people going after God. i cant wait to see all that God has for us in the future. i thought that pastor jason did a great job teaching on the table. and i can honestly say that that was the first time that i have ever done the wave at church!!!

dont feed the animals

January 22nd, 2009

recently i was in a place where i saw this sign, “dont feed the animals.” one would think that this is a pretty logical thing, right? the deal is that if you continue to feed the animals, they are going to keep coming back for more food. they are clever little creatures. over the past 21 days, our church has been participating in a fast. lots of churches do this at the first of the year. i think that the sign rings true in our lives as well… whatever you are feeding is going to hang around. so if you continue to feed that belly, it is going to hang around, and over, and out! whatever you feed, is going to get bigger. so my point is this, be careful what you give major attention to. if you cut the source off, it is going to die. so what are the things that you are feeding that need to be cut off? and what are the things that need a little more nutrition? just a thought… the best is yet to come…

lessons learned from the marathon

January 17th, 2009

ok… so here it is. i did not die. i made it through 26.2 miles of blood sweat and tears. let me start by saying to anyone that wants to attempt a marathon… TRAIN. i made the mistake of taking off on this journey without properly training. the most that i ran before this race was about 10 miles 6-8 weeks ago. i saw some crazy stuff out there. people learn really fast that port-a-potties are not the only place to relieve yourself! i stayed and ran with april, tracie, and stephanie until about mile 10 and then i had to peel off. my goal for this race was to finish. and i did it. the race was somewhat fun until about mile 20 and then i just wanted to get it over with. my legs and feet were so sore at that point. there was a sign that helped me along the race. it said, “the faster you run, the faster you’re done.” that sign made me push just a little bit harder to finish. i did have my iPod with me on the course. i highly recommend getting some john william’s scores for your run. the final song that came on as i ran the last mile was none other than the rocky theme. it gave me that final boost to come across the finish line. so all in all my feet are still sore today, and i can now say that i have completed a marathon. i will more than likely do another someday! the best is yet to come….40036-4147-016f.jpg  40036-527-007f.jpg   40036-455-005f.jpg   40036-2223-035f.jpg   40036-2927-017f.jpg   40036-3838-014f.jpg

running the race

January 8th, 2009

i am 4 days away from running a full marathon at disney world in orlando, fl. i am going to be honest. i am not prepared. i am just praying that i can make it the entire way. i am, by no means, expecting that i will run the whole time nor will i win the race. my goal for this one is to simply finish. i have 7 hours to complete this race. well…. i will let you know how it turns out. i am sure that there will be lessons that i learn and i will share as i do. the best is yet to come….
